Team Mizzou Classroom Expectations
6th grade science has two big curriculum goals. Our first goal is to build content knowledge about Earth Science. Our second goal is to build our scholars' critical thinking and inquiry skills. The heart of 6th grade science is building scientific method skills, math critical thinking skills, non-fiction reading skills, and writing skills. These means that our time is spent working hands on - making observations, gathering data, researching, expressing conclusions in writing, and creating models to help demonstrate big concepts like erosion and the solar system.
This means that we are moving around the room, using a lot of materials, and collaborating with teammates. In order for our year to be successful, we need to all be on the same page about the expectations for our 6th grade science scholars.
All MIZZOU teachers will spend time teaching our scholars our school wide expectations, positive and negative consequences, and SOAR expectations. During the first week of school, science scholars will discuss what must be true for our classroom for all this awesome thinking and activities to happen each day. In addition, Ms. Eberle has these non-negotiable expectations:

- You must have permission to be out of your seat.
- Be kind - leave classmates and the classroom better than how you found it.
- No personal grooming in class. (it doesn't mix well with science class!)

Parent and Family Volunteers
We have some big goals for our science scholars this year...and we cannot do it without family involvement. There are many different ways that you can be involved in science class. Some ways are:
If you find yourself with some free time, I'm always happy to have family members involved in the classroom. So that your time is put to good (and fun!) use, please call or email at least one day before.
- If you or a family friend work in a field that applies science, technology, engineering, or math, we are always looking for guest speakers to share about their education choices and their career field. Please feel free to contact me or share my contact information with those who you think may be interested in being a guest speaker.
- Donating class supplies for experiments, investigations, or every day classroom use. We are always going through tissues, colored pencils, tape, glue sticks, and dry erase markers.
- Joining us during experiment days as a second pair of hands to help out
